Saudi entrepreneur Deem Al-Bassam speaks to Wamda from her residence in Dubai, describing what went wrong with the initial venture that she started when she was only 19 and how she did it right the second time around when building modern restaurant Switch, a restaurant designed with her peers in mind.
At only 26, Deem is a serial entrepreneur (and kitesurfer- yes, that's a surfboard in the background) and now a co-founder of event company Innovation Machine, along with Sara Falaknaz of Dubai Holding and Kamal Hassan of Innovation 360 Institute.
Innovation Machine, launched this past month on the success of last year's Startup Weekend Dubai, is now managing upcoming Startup Weekends in Dubai (starting this Thursday, May 10-12), Abu Dhabi (May 24-26), and Doha (June 14), to educate and empower entrepreneurs.
