NYUAD Hackathon for Social Good Deadline November 30th

The NYU Abu Dhabi Department for Computer Science, in collaboration with the NYUAD Institute, is hosting the 2013 NYUAD Annual Hackathon: Building Apps for Social Good in the Arab World on February 22-25.

The 3-day program aims to bring computer science students, academics, and technology experts, from around the UAE, the Arab World, the US and Europe together to build an international culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in computer science.

The goal of the NYUAD Hackathon is to promote innovation in computer science, tech startups and the development of innovative technology for the social good. This event will provide an opportunity for students in the Arab world to experience the full cycle of creating a tech startup (sharing and generating ideas, pitching ideas, learning new platforms and programming languages, designing and developing mobile and web applications and working with a team). Aside from learning top practices in software development, students will also get a rare opportunity to be mentored by leaders in both industry and academia.

The event will take place at the NYU Abu Dhabi Downtown Campus where small teams of students, headed by a mentor, will compete to create mobile and web applications dedicated to doing social good in the Arab World. On the final evening, teams will present their application before the audience and a panel of judges.
