Namshi hops on the World Cup bandwagon, launching Namshi Koora

At a time when it seems everyone's attention is squarely on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Namshi.com, the luxury e-commerce site affiliated with Rocket Internet, decided to go a little football crazy themselves and launch Namshi Koora (‘koora’ means football in English).

With the purpose of attracting football fans, this new digital platform specializes in selling football clothes and accessories, including bags and shoes from the biggest brands worldwide. Most importantly, jerseys of the country teams competing in the World Cup will be available for sale.

“More than 20% of Namshi’s consumers are buying sportswear,” says Amr Abu El Aynayn, Online Marketing Manager at Namshi. “Out of those, most prefer to buy the teams’ official shirts or international brands’ shoes and bags… so we decided to gather those shoppers’ favorite products under one roof.”

Applying Namshi’s traditional guarantees to the new platform, delivery is available to all Gulf countries; free, 24-hour delivery is available to shoppers in the UAE, and orders over 100 SAR ($26 USD) are free in Saudi Arabia, and are delivered within five to seven days.

“We are the only ones to deliver our products to our clients on the same day inside the UAE, to the point that some orders are even delivered within six hours of purchase,” says Abu El Aynayn.

Faraz Khalid, Namshi’s co-founder, promised in August 2013 to optimize logistic services, including same day delivery. He also said he would work towards maximizing benefits from investments, the total of which amounted to $34 million USD as of last summer. As part of this growth, Namshi Koora might very well be the first of these developments, designed to leverage what works on the site and what doesn’t.
