SME sector
- 92% of all Moroccan businesses are SMEs, and they are responsible for 90% of the country’s GDP.
- The government has announced an investment program of US$140 million to support SMEs through to 2015.
Economy
- In July 2008, the IMF described Morocco as “a pillar of development in the region”.
- Morocco’s agriculture sector accounts for 40% of all employment, with the government seeking to boost the sector to add 1.5m jobs and US10 billion to total GDP.
- Morocco’s exports total US$16.14 billion, with Spain and France the main recipient countries of textiles, electric components, inorganic chemicals, fruit and fish.
Society
- Morocco was ranked the number one country in Africa in the Economist Intelligence Unit's quality-of-life index.
