AIESEC International Congress 2013, Egypt

by Nesma Nafea, January 31, 2013

One thousand young leaders are going to be gathered under the same roof, in a 10 day congress hosted in Egypt by AIESEC, the world’s biggest youth-run organization. It falls under the name of International Congress and has been a very important annual event since 1949 where the first congress was held in Sweden. This congress is expected to take place in August, 2013 and is mainly aiming at bringing attention to the effective role of young individuals in finding paths towards peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential through cross-cultural communication and working on a global level to achieve world peace, as well as, providing the tools for these “Change Ambassadors” to realize their vision, foster the organizational values and pass this forwards.

International Congress’13 is foreseen to be one of the major events taking place in Egypt (highest performing chapter of AIESEC in the MENA region) in 2013, for it puts together the essence of a youth-organized conference, a professional engagement event to unite the business sector with young ideas and vice versa, and an event that enables the public to interact with AIESECers from around the world in what could be the world’s largest congregation of youth leadership. The congress is expected to be covered by local and international media partners and for our corporate partners to be present during the different events that will take place like the Opening Ceremony, the Global Village, Youth 2 Business Forum, etc…, some events will be open to public audience as well.

Shedding more light on what AIESEC does as an organization: Started in 1948 after World War II, what was a group of 89 exchange students across Europe is now present in over 1100 universities in 111 countries and territories; AIESEC, the world's largest student organization, is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential so as to have a positive impact in society.
Towards this aim, we run more than 500 conferences, provide 6,000 international internships opportunities, and offer over 5,000 leadership positions to our members each year. Together with a focus on building personal networks and exploring the direction and ambition of their future, AIESEC has an innovative approach to engaging and developing young people.

What Jim Schiro, Former CEO PwC has to say about AIESEC:
"PwC and AIESEC, with a common philosophy and view of the future, have worked together for many years. We advise today's global business leaders; you are developing those of the future. We both share our knowledge, and in so doing multiply it. We both pursue cultural and professional diversity, achieving the blend of perspectives that leads to innovation."

Our partner organizations, literally thousands from all sectors, look at AIESEC as a way to support the development of young people and to have access to high-potential young talent from around the world.

Our alumni are leaders within these organizations and their communities - using the experience, skills, and increased vision that AIESEC gave them to be agents of positive change.
