The competition, which was announced at Global Entrepreneurship Week last November, is an interactive challenge where entrepreneurs and compete to develop their ideas over a six month period, receiving training and mentorship through workshops. The second round of the competition will be held in 30 countries around the world, including Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, and Egypt.
The first round of Startup Cup in Egypt, which was held last June, included 16 startups which still exist on the local scene in Egypt.
Entrepreneurs and innovators in Egypt can register their ideas or startups online by June 8th. The top 50 applicants will get a chance to attend a workshop about “how to build businesses”, given by two entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, Sean Griffin and Kristin Bergman. 25 semi-finalists will advance to the next round of the competition.
