A chat with the student building an emergency-response robot in Jordan [Wamda TV]

[Arabic]

At the recent World Economic Forum Meeting in Jordan, we caught up with Michael Farhat, a student at Al-Balqa' Applied University in Jordan, who is working on the prototype of a versatile robot that can used by firefighters or policemen to carry out difficult tasks and missions.

The robot, which Farhat demonstrates in the short interview above, can withstand high temperatures and enter areas consumed with dangerous fumes or chemicals that humans cannot. Controlled via remote control, the robot includes a live video feed, can snap pictures of its surroundings, and records a detailed map of the route it took on each mission.

Farhat’s robots can be used as either a tank or helicopter offering aerial view and support. Check out the interview above to learn more about why he designed the robot and how it can help emergency personnel.
