Today, and after two and a half months, App Mahal has exceeded 200k installs and has been chosen as finalist for the Red Herring Top 100 Asia Awards, a prestigious list honoring the year's promising tech ventures in Asia. In an email exchange, Swilat told us that on average, each user downloads three apps using App Mahal, and sends 25 invites to friends to try the apps.
Recently, the startup started using the data it collects on user behavior on App Mahal, hoping app developers could use it to learn what was trending in mobile. Based on data from July and August, the startup recently designed its first infographic. During this period, 55% of app users searched in Arabic, dropping from 67% during Ramadan. The infographic also shows that the majority of users were men (77%) compared to women (23%).
