Saudi National Creative Initiative (SNCI): Application & Gaming week

SNCI Application & Gaming Week

The Saudi National Creative Initiative (SNCI), which has been in the making for four years now, has launched its first Saudi Creative Season on the 2nd of March with a series of workshops. The Application and Gaming Week will take place  between April 7 and 12 in three different cities: Jeddah, Riyadh and Khobar.

The Application & Gaming week aims to provide an understanding in design theories and how to transform an idea from conceptual stages to a completed project.

The week will feature three skill-building workshops facilitated by global practitioners around the topics of leadership, management, creativity and problem-solving, and communication.

Entrepreneurship and Business Design by Anita Schjoll Brede, CEO and cofounder of Iris AI.

Designing a game or an app is an art – but so is making sure that what you create is useful and economically feasible. Does your tool solve a real problem? Who is willing to pay for it? How much? How can you grow and scale up your business? How can you build a crowd and a community and make sure people love what you do? In this workshop, you will go through the basics of how to design a business around your idea. It should equip you with the basic knowledge and give you the right resources to continue learning.

The exploding app market: designing and developing cross platform mobile apps to take advantage of the digital economy, by Alex Jerez, Director of Big Data and Business Intelligence Executive Program.

Many economic sectors are seeing how their value chain is being disintermediated by digital platforms and applications. Apps provide new opportunities to increase productivity, boost profits and optimise cost-efficiency. Since smartphones are changing the way we do business in this workshop, you will learn how to design and develop a cross-platform mobile app in this workshop.Undoubtedly, the most important part of any application is the user experience, so it will be explored deeply. Lastly, gameing apps will be covered with all their key components: goals, rules, challenge and interaction.

Chance, Choice and Challenge: building The Player Experience, by Francisco Alinovi, concept and media designer.

Creating the right player experience is the most challenging task even for qualified game designers. Using an anthropological approach, moving through such varied disciplines as neurobiology and environment design, the course is aimed at defining the principles that drive the players to make the right choice at the right time. The workshop will cover the following topics:
- “Flow”: or the optimal experience
- Perception, sensation, emotions
- Pleasure and surprise
- Decision making
 process
- From possibility to necessity
