Mix N’ Mentor is returning to Dubai, MENA’s startup capital

Wamda’s flagship event, Mix N’ Mentor, is finally returning to the uncontested MENA capital for anyone with a startup and the gusto to thrive. Happening at Dubai Future Accelerators on December 15, the event will once again foster invaluable group and one-on-one discussions between corporates and entrepreneurs, experience-backed mentorship, and advice from other entrepreneurs across various industries.

The UAE is ranked the region’s top country to start a business, attracts the largest amounts of investment, and holds the region’s most industry-diverse lineup of startups. According to Wamda Research Lab, out of the 16 MENA startups that crossed the $100 million valuation, 11 are based in the UAE, among them Souq.com.

The UAE was also named in the top 10 most improved business environments over the past year, according to a World Bank report. The country was also ranked 19th globally and first among Arab countries in the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Development Index.

With its years-long reputation of supporting startups in the region, Wamda’s Mix N’ Mentor will feature stories of success and failure. Mentors and entrepreneurs will discuss challenges they choose to raise, like fundraising, business development, team building and other topics.

The event will also include rich workshops, ranging from branding and communication, to user acquisition to growth hacking. In addition to the the fixed topics, Wamda will listen to suggestions from entrepreneurs on what they want to learn about, and implement their ideas on December 15. At the end of the day, groups will come together to reflect on the lessons they’ve learned in a fun, collaborative and casual setting.

Attending mentors include Fadi Ghandour, managing partner at Wamda Capital, Amir Farha, cofounder and CIO of Beco Capital, Will Hutson, founder of LMTD, Laith Zraikat, Senior investment manager at Arzan VC, and many others.

This event is best known to have resulted in valuable mentorship advice and as a place to find worthwhile collaborators, partners, and perhaps your next cofounder.
