Trukker, second place winner of the startup track at the MITEF Arab Startup Competition achieved 1,000 percent growth since its commercial launch in October 2016.
“It all circles back to being able to address definite pain points in the road transportation business that has affected the sector for ages,” said CEO Gaurav Biswas in a statement to Wamda.
Currently operating in the UAE alone, Trukker allows users to book a truck on their website or app and provides them with system-generated prices instantly. Trukker allow users to track the trucks in real time, and receive status updates during the transaction. More than 2,100 trucks have been booked on the website.
While they have already entered an estimated $15 billion industry in UAE and KSA alone, Trukker plans on scaling up to KSA by the end of 2017.
This Uber inspired model app provides member transporters with navigation systems and tasks from the app. “We are witnessing a lot of our transporters taking the day off when Trukker has not allocated a job to them because they are very busy on other days. We like them getting lazy and relying on the Trukker smartphone for business rather than toiling it in industrial areas waiting for a job every few days,” said Biswas.
Trukker is currently raising a pre-series A round of $1 million and talking to VCs and angel investors from all over the region. Biswas hopes to close the round soon.
