On Tuesday April 24, Wamda will be hosting Tony Bates, CEO of Social Capital’s new growth unit, for a casual fireside chat and Q&A, followed by a networking session.

Bates is a well known investor and operator in Silicon Valley, having run all of the enterprise business at Cisco, overseeing 15k+ employees and $22bn in revenue before becoming CEO of Skype. At Skype, Bates helped guide Silverlake's $2.75bn investment into a $8.5bn exit. Thereafter, he was part of senior management of Microsoft before taking GoPro public. Bates currently sits on the board of eBay and VMware.

The fireside chat will kickoff at 6:30 PM, where Bates will share his takeaways from his experience working on scaling consumer and enterprise products, taking Go-Pro public, his journey with Skype, and what he looks for in startups and founders for Social Capital.

The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session.
