Press release:

Saudi fintech startup TalMal has closed an undisclosed pre-Seed funding round with participation from MM Partners, as the company prepares to scale its salary-backed flexible purchasing platform in Saudi Arabia.

The investment comes as TalMal moves from product development and business-model validation into commercial expansion, with plans to grow its network of employers, merchants and employee users.

Led by founder and CEO Thamer Faisal Al-Qu’ayshish, TalMal is developing a digital platform that connects employees, employers and merchants through a salary-backed purchasing model.

The model gives employees access to flexible purchasing options linked to their salaries, with repayment organised through their employer. For businesses, the platform provides tools to manage the process, while participating merchants gain access to a pool of employees with available purchasing capacity.

Rather than operating solely as a deferred-payment product, TalMal is building the technology infrastructure to manage purchasing, repayment and interactions between the three parties through a single digital platform.

The company is currently part of Jada30, an incubation programme affiliated with Saudi Arabia's Social Development Bank, where it has been developing its business model and technology. Jada30 separately confirmed that TalMal had closed the investment round and was moving into a new phase of expansion.

The startup has also been building integrations and commercial partnerships around its model. Available reporting points to collaborations with Foodics, 360Solutions and Talento HRMS, linking TalMal with point-of-sale and human-resources infrastructure.

The new funding will support TalMal's plans to expand its corporate and merchant network, strengthen its technology infrastructure and reach a larger base of employees in Saudi Arabia.

According to Al-Qu’ayshish, the investment marks the company's transition from building the product and validating its model to scaling its operations, while MM Partners said TalMal's ability to connect employees, employers and merchants within a single model was among the factors behind its investment.
