Press release:

Saudi mobile game developer FLOATY Studio has raised $1 million in a funding round led by Merak Capital through the Merak Gaming Fund (MGF), as the company looks to accelerate game development and expand its reach in global mobile gaming markets.

Founded in 2023, FLOATY Studio develops casual and hybrid-casual mobile games designed for international audiences, focusing on accessible gameplay combined with long-term player engagement. The studio is currently developing two flagship titles: Pirasea, a pirate-themed strategy game, and Hero Squad, a sci-fi action game centred on assembling heroes to battle robotic enemies.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the development of the company's gaming portfolio, strengthen its production capabilities, and support its international growth strategy as it seeks to establish Saudi-developed intellectual property in global markets.

The investment was made through the Merak Gaming Fund, an $80 million vehicle established to support high-potential gaming startups and strengthen Saudi Arabia's game development ecosystem. The fund has previously invested in gaming companies, including Qwacks and Khosouf Studio, as part of its broader strategy to foster local talent and globally competitive game studios.

Merak Capital said the investment reflects its confidence in FLOATY Studio's product vision and in Saudi Arabia's growing position as a regional hub for gaming entrepreneurship. The funding also aligns with the Kingdom's broader efforts to develop a globally competitive gaming industry by supporting homegrown studios capable of creating original content for international audiences.
