Pakistani Students Pioneer Affordable Neural Prosthetics for Victims of Conflict [Wamda TV]

Pakistani entrepreneurs Bilal and Fahed pitched their idea for affordable neurally-controlled prosthetics at the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) competition during the second Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Their idea could transform societies and create new opportunities for amputees by essentially cutting the cost of neural prosthetics, which are prosthetics directly controlled by neural signals from the brain By using different technologies in the signal acquisition and processing systems, they were able to generate prototypes at one-sixth the market price.

This this would be an affordable solution, they say, for amputees living in the third world, especially victims of conflict in Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan.
