From Small Steps to Big Change Panel & Film, Social Enterprise Week

Part of a series of events for Social Enterprise Week, this panel features entrepreneurs engaged in diverse sectors such as child safety, financial literacy, telecommunications, handicrafts and adventure tourism. Underlying each of their businesses is a sustainable model that puts social good before profits, while not sacrificing one for the other. The event will take place at the Meydan IMAX Theatre in Dubai on February 28, 2013.

The panelists for this evening will share their journeys and what they believe it takes for social enterprises to achieve success.

Film Screening

Following the panel, there will be a film screening of Bonsai People, The Vision of Muhammad Yunus. Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus is doing extraordinary humanitarian work, which started by lending $27 to 42 people out of his own pocket and has now grown to helping 1 out of every 1,000 people on earth.

By tackling some of the world’s most challenging problems including healthcare, education and alternative energy, he demonstrates to the world that complex problems sometimes do have simple answers. And microcredit is just the tip of the iceberg.
