Egypt startup BSocial launches Quran VR app

Marketing services company Bsocial has created a virtual reality (VR) app called Experience Quran for the Oculus store.

It comes after the company developed its Experience Mecca app.

The new app renders the experience into a 360 video. With its distinctive characteristics, the application consolidates religious values and helps the user to emulate reality and convey the correct mental image of what Islamic religious practices should be.

“The Egyptian developers are taking steady steps to keep up with the international tech standards. With communications becoming easier, Egyptian tech entrepreneurs managed to reach out and collaborate internationally to design, develop and distribute innovative technologies and services,” states Ehab Fares, the founder and CEO of Bsocial.

The success of Experience Mecca started with Oculus’s verification.

“Modernizing a subject that holds such a high degree of spiritual value and appreciation amongst the target audience presented many challenges on the technical level. Conveying all the spiritual vibes and achieving that instant awe that takes place in real life when visiting Mecca was crucial to the success of the experience,” Fares said.

“To be able to develop the dimensions and textures of the main landmarks as closely as their real-life counterparts required meticulous research and studies, so as to reach the best quality possible while avoiding any technical issues that might occur while rendering.”

“Once we got green lit, the reception on the Oculus store was overwhelming. The major KPI was to get 10,000 subscribers in the first year, yet reached a whopping +165,000 subscribers in only one year, spending 32,270 minutes experiencing Mecca,” he said.
