Innovations in Health Hackathon

The “Innovations in Health” hackathon is an initiative that is part of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) UAE Innovation Month. The Hackathon will be organized by Wamda in collaboration with Hikma Ventures at the MOHAP Training & Development Center in Sharjah on February 27 (8 am - 6 pm) and on February 28 (8 am – 2 pm) at MOHAP Main Office.

The purpose of the hackathon is to take students through an ideation process to dream up solutions to healthtech challenges, as per the below. At the end of the hackathon, students would have stress tested their ideas, evaluated their business potential, and pitched them to a jury of experts from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Wamda, Hikma Ventures and more.

Areas to be explored within each theme (Mental Health & Chronic Diseases)

● How can technology help in making access to treatment and diagnosis more available

● How can technology help the community by becoming more supportive and inclusive of those challenges

● How can technology keep patients aware of their medical condition and progress

● How can technology connect all stakeholders in the ecosystem and create an integrated seamless user experience

The hackathon mostly targets Medical, Engineering and Computer Science students from all faculties and colleges in the UAE but exceptional candidates from other majors are encouraged to apply.   

Top 3 Winning teams will receive prizes of 20,000, 10,000 and 5000 AED respectively, in addition to recognition for the university and team members, and an Internship opportunity at the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
