Algeria’s VOLZ raises $5 million in landmark funding round
  • Algeria-based traveltech VOLZ has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by a consortium of private investors under Tell Group, with participation from Groupe GIBA.
  • Announced at the African Startup Conference in December 2025, the deal is Algeria’s largest startup round in local currency and marks the first exit of the Algerian Startup Fund.
  • Founded in 2023 by Mohamed Abdelhadi Mezi and Hacene Seghier, VOLZ enables travellers to book flights in dinars using online payments or cash on delivery, while comparing multiple airlines on one platform.
  • The funding will support the launch of new consumer and corporate travel products, deepen VOLZ’s presence in Algeria, and fuel expansion across North and West Africa.

Press release:

VOLZ, the pioneering Algerian travel‑tech startup and the first local platform enabling travellers to book flights in dinars with online or cash‑on‑delivery payment, announces a historic funding round of 600 million dinars (nearly $5 million). The round was led by a consortium of private investors under the leadership of Tell Group, with the participation of Groupe GIBA – Babahoum Industrial Group Algeria, known notably for its mineral water brand Guedila.

This announcement was made during the African Startup Conference held in Algiers in December 2025, where VOLZ was one of the champion sponsors supporting the event.

This deal marks a dual first in the Algerian tech ecosystem:

  • The first successful exit of the Algerian Startup Fund (ASF), established in October 2020, which achieved a return of more than 3.35x on its initial investment.
  • The largest funding round ever raised by an Algerian startup in dinars.

Founded in 2023, VOLZ has demonstrated the strength of its disruptive model with more than 1000% growth in just one year. Investors were convinced by:

  • A unique hybrid service adapted to local market realities (local currency, online or cash‑on‑delivery payment, multi‑airline booking, premium customer service).
  • A remarkable execution capacity capable of digitising a historically complex and fragmented market.
  • Continuous growth driven by innovation, ease of use, and user trust.
  • A clear mission: Giving Back the Power to the Traveller.

“This funding round marks a new milestone for VOLZ. It allows us to accelerate our mission: to empower Algerian travellers by making travel simpler, clearer, and more accessible. We thank ASF for its historic role in our beginnings and welcome our new investors with ambition and responsibility.” — Mohamed Abdelhadi Mezi, CEO of VOLZ.

With this new round, VOLZ will strengthen its presence in Algeria by launching new products and expanding into new markets across North and West Africa. The ambition is to become the go‑to app for all travellers in the region, offering a seamless, transparent, and reliable experience from flight search to boarding.

VOLZ is also preparing to launch its corporate product, helping businesses optimise and manage their travel operations.
