Intel Business Challenge Middle East & North Africa 2013 Launches, Calling for Applications

 

Intel just announced the Intel Business Challenge Middle East & North Africa 2013 (IBC ME), a portal to the Intel Global Challenge which gathers the best engineers and scientists from around the world to pitch their ideas about how to make the world a better place, through invention and entrepreneurship. 

The Intel Global Challenge was established in 2005 to encourage the creators of innovative projects, with the potential to become a new business, to compete with their ideas in a global competition. Participants have the chance to win $100,000 and access to tech leaders in Silicon Valley. 

IBC ME is calling for applications by April 14, 2013; entrepreneurs can apply through the competition’s website here.

The competition is open for entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years old, with ideas related to the following fields:

  • Semi-conductors
  • Manufacturing tools
  • Mobile
  • Consumer electronics
  • Software
  • IT
  • Energy and power generation
  • Nanotechnology
  • Biotechnology

After applying, the competition offers an online series of free educational seminars and mentorship sessions for one month, starting on April 15. The series aims to help applicants refine their ideas and develop their business plans; participants will present their projects individually or in a group. Following the series, an awards ceremony will be held in June in Dubai, where the names of the top four winners will be announced.

Winners will get the chance to participate in the Intel Global Challenge which will be held at the UC Berkeley University campus in Silicon Valley in October 2013.

The competition is sponsored by the Badir Program for Technology Incubators in Saudi Arabia, the Information Technology Authority Sultanate of OmanENSIAS Univsersity in Morocco, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship in Jordan, the Palestine Information & Communications Technology Incubator, and the ANPT agency in Algeria.
