Where are entrepreneurs finding talent? [Wamda TV]

Arabic

More than three in five entrepreneurs in MENA cited finding talent as a key barrier to building their team.

Hiring and retaining talent is a crucial component, especially in the scaling phase of a startup during which more specialists need to be hired under relatively tight time constraints.

The Wamda Research Lab (WRL), in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Bayt.com and the Beirut Digital District (BDD), decided to dig deeper into this challenge. The result is a report titled Access to Talent for MENA’s Entrepreneurs.

The report is clear in its findings. On one hand, hiring and retaining is indeed difficult due to misaligned priorities and difficulties for small companies to compensate the hires for their hard work. On the other hand, startups do in fact create jobs and most entrepreneurs are generally satisfied with the overall talent they employ.

However, the missed opportunity for MENA’s entrepreneurs are the underused channels to hire. Watch the video to see where entrepreneurs currently look for the right candidate, and read the entire report to find out more about the recommended hiring strategies.
