Starvania lands $1.1 million investment to expand Saudi gaming innovation

Starvania Studios, the award-winning Saudi indie game development studio, has secured a $1.1 million investment from Merak Capital and Impact46. The funding will strengthen Starvania’s production capabilities, support PC and console game development, and help recruit top Saudi talent.

Founded in 2022 by Meaad Aflah and Muslih Alzahrani, Starvania gained international recognition with its fantasy game Bahamut and the Waqwaq Tree, inspired by Arabian mythology and released on Steam in 2024. The studio has since won multiple accolades, including the Devcom Indie Award for “Graphics Galore,” a nomination for the TrueGaming Award for “Best Saudi Indie Game”, and the “Best Game Startup” award at the 2024 MENA Games Industry Awards.

Starvania’s mission is to create richly imagined fantasy worlds with the creative depth to expand beyond gaming into comics, animation, and merchandise. With backing from Merak Capital and Impact46, the studio will scale its development pipeline, expand its team, and further position Saudi Arabia as a rising force in global gaming.
