Press release:

Bahrain-founded financial infrastructure company Tarabut has secured $50 million (SAR187 million) in strategic financing as it deepens its focus on embedded finance and SME lending infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

The financing includes participation from Riyad Bank, X-Tech Fund managed by SAB Invest, GIB Saudi Arabia, Zamil Group and Kanoo Ventures, the venture investment arm of Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, alongside other regional institutions. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals, including approval from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

Founded in 2017 by Abdulla Almoayed, Tarabut operates financial infrastructure across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain. Originally focused on open banking, the company has expanded its offering into embedded finance, payments and credit decisioning, connecting financial institutions with businesses and consumers through its infrastructure.

Tarabut opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh in 2025, as Saudi Arabia became an increasingly central market for the company. It has reached connectivity with the Kingdom’s major banks and works with financial institutions including Saudi National Bank, Alinma Bank and SAB.

The new capital will be used to deepen Tarabut's operations in Saudi Arabia and develop end-to-end embedded finance journeys, bringing verification, credit decisioning and financing together within a single digital process.

Rather than lending directly from its own balance sheet, Tarabut provides infrastructure that allows financial institutions to use customer-permissioned financial information and real-time cash-flow data to assess borrowers and distribute financing through third-party platforms.

A key focus for the company is SME financing, where lenders have traditionally relied on historical financial statements and other static documentation when assessing businesses.

Tarabut's technology allows financial institutions to complement those documents with real-time financial behaviour and cash-flow information, giving lenders a more current view of a company's financial position and potentially shortening the time required to make financing decisions.

“The biggest prize is SME finance,” said Abdulla Almoayed, founder and CEO of Tarabut. “Financial institutions want to serve more creditworthy businesses, and our infrastructure helps them turn real financial behaviour into a clearer picture for decision-making.”

Tarabut's infrastructure is already being used in a number of financial services products in Saudi Arabia. American Express Saudi Arabia has used the company's open banking technology to assess credit-limit increase requests, including for self-employed and non-salaried customers. Saudi National Bank (SNB) has also announced an SME point-of-sale lending product powered by Tarabut and distributed through payments company Geidea, while Tarabut has partnered with SAB on embedded finance.

The company says it has processed more than five billion API calls across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain.

The latest financing follows Tarabut's $32 million Series A in 2023, led by Pinnacle Capital with participation from Visa, Tiger Global and Aljazira Capital. Before that, the company had raised $25 million across Seed and Pre-Series A rounds in 2021.

Tarabut has also expanded its technology through acquisitions. In 2024, it acquired UK account-to-account payments company Vyne, adding payment initiation capabilities to its open banking infrastructure. Earlier in 2026, it acquired Bahrain-based AI engineering company Servable, adding synthetic data, model training and AI-powered decisioning capabilities for regulated financial institutions.

The $50 million financing will support Tarabut's next phase of expansion in Saudi Arabia, with the company expected to roll out further products and integrations as it develops its embedded finance offering.
