3rd GameZanga Pan-Arabian GameJam

GameTako, a non-profit organization that aims to create an indie game industry in the Arab world, announces the 3rd GameZanga Pan-Arabian GameJam of spring 2013, a 4-day development competition starting on March 14, 2013.

The competition will begin with the announcement of a “theme” that Jammers will stick to when creating their game throughout the 4 days. Submissions will be closed on the end of Day 4. Participation is open to anyone in the world, as long as their resulting game is either in Arabic or has no language at all. All games will be reviewed and judged by a panel of Arabic game site reviewers.

Partners will also open physical locations where participants can work for 2 days on the weekend of the GameJam. At each location, developers can meet and bounce ideas off of other competitors. Locations for the physical locations:

  • Riyadh
  • Amman
  • Cairo
  • Abu Dhabi
  • Tunis
  • Casablanca

Location partners include N2V, Khalifa University, The District Cairo, Tunisian Game Developers (TGD), and Moroccan Game Developers. GameZanga sponsors are N2V, Sony SCEE, Unity, YOYO Games, Stencyl, Design3 and Scierra.

At the last GameZanga, 43 original Arabic games were created after 3 days of GameJamming. With over 200 registered developers, GameTako discovered some great talent across the region and around the world.
