How the world will replace employees with entrepreneurs [Infographic]

The age of the traditional job, and the security that comes with it, may soon be coming to a close. It’s been said that entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. But for many people in today’s workforce, there may be no choice but to turn to entrepreneurship, or some form of it, in the near future.

The below infographic by Funders and Founders details the main categories of the modern worker, and how their functions may soon get closer to those of an entrepreneur.

Most jobs, according to the graphic, are likely to be replaced by the modern independent contractor, as freelancers, contractors, and consultants regularly cost 30% less than a typical employee since they don’t receive benefits and payment is project based.

In the U.S. and other large economies, specialized jobs are likely to be outsourced to other nations who charge less for the same work. Most manual jobs will likely be replaced by machines and robots too; it’s predicted that by 2030, most manual jobs will be performed by robots at a near-human level. Already in South Korea, there are 347 robots working per every 10,000 employees.

Those who are hired by corporations are increasingly expected to be intrapreneurs, innovating from within, and some are even hired as entrepreneurs in residence. Others who are more creative, but on a small scale, are likely to become “sidepreneurs” working on their own projects either within a company or as an individual.
