Press release:
Saudi game development studio Ash Games has raised a $1.5 million Seed funding round, co-led by Merak Capital and Impact46 through the Merak Gaming Fund, to accelerate the development and global launch of its culturally inspired video games. The investment comes as Saudi Arabia continues to expand its gaming ecosystem and support locally developed intellectual property with international appeal.
Founded by Anas Bakhsh, Yaser Alahmadi, and Saud Bakolka, Ash Games focuses on developing action-adventure titles for PC and consoles that draw on Saudi Arabia's history, folklore, and cultural heritage. The studio aims to create globally competitive games while showcasing authentic regional narratives to international audiences.
The company's flagship title, Nomad, is an action-adventure roguelite game inspired by the mythology of Ancient Arabia and is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in 2027. Ash Games has also introduced Azooma Escape, a stealth-comedy game that takes inspiration from everyday Saudi life, reflecting the studio's broader strategy of building culturally rooted entertainment experiences.
The new capital will be used to expand the studio's development capabilities, grow its team, and strengthen its international publishing and commercialization efforts. Operating with a remote-first team of 18 employees, Ash Games plans to scale its production pipeline and position Saudi-developed games for broader global distribution, contributing to the Kingdom's ambitions of becoming a regional hub for the gaming industry.
