  • What is it?

    Mix N’ Mentor brings together promising entrepreneurs with top regional and global mentors. Thanks to its unique format and high profile delegates, 74% of past participants say they saw a direct improvement on their business.

  • Mentorship sessions

    At the core of the event are the mentorship sessions. Entrepreneurs will be matched with mentors based on profiles and needs. Various topics will be addressed throughout the sessions.

  • Hattan Ahmed

    Entrepreneurship Collaboration Manager at KAUST Entrepreneurship Center

    Hattan Ahmed is an Entrepreneurship Collaboration Manager at KAUST Entrepreneurship Center supporting and mentoring existing startups and explore new potential ones across the kingdom. He monitors the entrepreneurial KPIs from the Entrepreneurship Center to measure the impact and file for ranking in international indices and supports building KAUST startup pipeline. Hattan started his career with Saudi Aramco in 2001 and worked closely with Siemens AG and Honeywell. He has Information Technology (IT) background in system design, development and implementation in different industries ranging from oil and gas, travel to retail. Hattan holds an MBA degree from University of Leeds and a BS degree in Computer Science from University of Alabama.

  • Nabil Nazer

    Chief Investment Officer at Al Sulaiman Group

    Nabil has over 15 years experience encompassing investments, finance and Corporate strategy. Prior to his current role, Nabil was CFO for KADDB Investment Group where he set up and managed the investment and finance departments at the holding. Before that, he worked at renowned international  and regional companies including Gulf International Bank (GIB), Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and Merrill Lynch. Nabil holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelors of Business Administration with Distinction from the American University of Beirut. He completed the KAFD/IDG Development Program at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Nabil is a mentor at Flat6Labs Jeddah and Endeavor Jordan. 

  • Dr. Muhammad Khan

    Associate Professor at Effat University

    Dr. Khan is a senior executive / academic with proven track record of more than 26 years in business and entrepreneur development (11 years), Personnel management (5 years) and Academic (10 years) in Asia, Middle east and Europe. He performed work in heavy, process, services, estate and education sectors and developed 130+ start-ups. Embracing the concept of economic gardening, Dr. Khan drives creation and development of start-ups, first and 2nd stage entrepreneurs by providing a supportive and enriched assistance and guidance enabling businesses grow, thrive and create employment. Dr. Khan has developed a pioneering study on “Mapping Entrepreneurship Ecosystem of Saudi Arabia” in 2013 and later in 2016, he mapped the evolution of this Saudi ecosystem over 2013, 2014 and 2015 under “Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Evolution Strategy of Saudi Arabia”.

    Saleh Basalamah is an Associate Professor in the Computer Engineering Department in Umm Al-Qura University, he graduated with a PhD in Bioengineering from Imperial College London in 2005. He became the dean of college of computing and information systems between 2009 and 2012.

  • Hashim Alawadi

    CEO at Technology Investments Company

    Hashim Al-Awadhi is CEO of Technology Investments Company, a Saudi private equity company and Vice-Chair of the Saudi British Joint Business Council. Hashim also serves as a board member of various technology and telecom companies. Mr. Alawadi is an investment and technology professional with over 20 years of experience in engineering, operations and capital management. Mr. Alawadi received his BS in 1988, and MSE degree in Controls and Systems Engineering in 1992, both from the University of Texas at Austin in addition to extensive professional education in management and finance. He is the recipient of numerous honors such as the Instrument Society of America Best Paper and The University of Texas Bureau of Engineering Research Fellowship.

      n expert in building and scaling Internet companies and products, Jihad has over 10 years managerial experience in developing and investing in high tech companies. In 2006, he built Qaym.com, the first restaurant reviews startup in the Arab world which was visited by 3.5 million unique visitors in 2015. He acted as a Senior Investment Manager in Mobility and Mobility Ventures and moved to TakaMol Holding as a Product Manager before his current role as Investment Principal at TAQNIA.

    Kamal is a marketer and business development expert with 15+ years of solid experience. His P&L oriented DNA and passion drove the development of new businesses and strategic alliances with government bodies, NGOs, chambers of commerce, key multinationals and various business sectors including real estate, banking, automotive and FMCG such as: Ministry of Economy and Planning, MiSK (Mohammed bin Salman Foundation), SAGIA, SMEs Authority, GACA, Emmar the Economic City (KAEC), Damac Properties, The National Commercial Bank, Abdul Latif Jameel, Islamic Development Bank, Pepsi Cola International, Savola Group, Mars, Albaik Food Systems and many others.     Nitin Joined Wamda Capital in May 2017 to lead the Value Creation team through optimization focused interactions with portfolio companies and potential new investees.  Before joining Wamda Capital, Nitin spent 2 years with Rocket Internet in Dubai as a Managing Director at two ventures.  Nitin also co-founded a boutique investment firm specializing in early to mid-stage private equity investments. Prior to that, Nitin worked as an investment banker in Toronto with a focus on Technology, Telecom and Media. Nitin was born in Canada and studied, chemical engineering & applied physics and holds an MBA with a specialty in Corporate Finance.

    Motaz Nofal joined Wamda Captial in May 2017 as part of the Value Creation team and responsible for evaluating and supporting the portfolio companies on Operations, Logistics and Customer experience. Motaz has 11 years experience with Aramex managing global operations and expansion projects and spent 2 years with IATA setting up their regional customer service center for Africa and Middle East. Motaz holds a Bachelors in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Hult International Business School.

  • Basil Al Dossary

    Founder & CEO at Takamul

      Basil is experienced in media, digital media and technology. He has witnessed the design, implementation and commissioning of a mega digital transformation project of MBC Group while serving in the IT/Engineering department for nearly 5 years. He has also served as a Product Development Manager for an OTT project in a startup in Dubai to to disrupt the TV watching experience in the MENA region. Basil is also the Cofounder of Rahl Trading, a startup that focuses on providing more grocery variety to customers in Saudi Arabia at better rates and better experience. Basil holds a BS in Computer Science from the American University of Sharjah with concentration in Artificial Intelligence.

  • Gordon McConnell

    Head of the Entrepreneurship Center at KAUST

    Gordon holds the title of Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship in KAUSTsince May 2016 and has been the Head of the Entrepreneurship Center since May2014. During which time he has led the activities of the center including thedeployment of for-credit and non-credit Teaching & Learning programs, startupaccelerators such as the TAQADAM University Entrepreneur Accelerator and theTakamol 910ths Startup Accelerator. He also created the KAUST CorporateInnovation programs which has supported twenty eight organizations across theKingdom. Prior to Saudi Arabia, he was Associate Vice President of Innovation andEntrepreneurship at Arizona State University, Principal Investigator of the ASUCenter of Excellence in Technology Transfer, which was funded by the US Departmentof Defense, and an Assistant Professor of Practice. Gordon received a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) and a Masters inBusiness Studies (MBS) from the National University of Ireland, and an ExecutiveCertificate in Leadership and Management, MIT Sloan School of Management.

  • Roberto Ciaramaria

    Roberto is a business analyst and product development specialist with an extremely heterogeneous professional experience and "multipontentialite" approach to problem solving and out of the box thinking. He has strong design and prototyping skills that he is now using to help the KAUST Entrepreneurship Center startups to take off. He spent most of his professional life before moving to KSA as founder and CIO of ItaliaCamp, a major Italian startup/investors facilitator company. During this period, he gained an extensive experience in the startups ecosystem where he learned how to get “things” done and working. Previously he also worked as IT project manager for both small and large-scale project.

  • Amal Dokhan

    Managing Director at Babson Global Center of Entrepreneurial Leadership

    Amal is the Director of Babson Global Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, she is responsible for the strategic direction, tactical execution and operational oversight of the Center. The BGCEL focuses on expanding the practice of Entrepreneurship in all levels focusing on activities related to scaling up SMES, female entrepreneurship, angel investment and many other entrepreneurship related areas. She has a diverse range of experience in management, teaching, training and marketing related roles, particularly in education. Over the past four years, Amal has played multiple leading roles at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and at the Entrepreneurship Center in particular. She managed the university startup accelerator, which was funded by Saudi British Bank (SABB) and hosted twenty-eight startup teams in its first edition with a variety of technologies including IOT, New Materials, Software and Biotechnology from 13 different universities.

    Rayan has 2 years of experience working for a U.S based education technology startup company that focuses on preparing/training university graduates for the work place. In addition, he has been working for many different startups since the age of 18, from a small coffee shop to a hot Influencer marketing startup, along with several startups he started. As a Startup Incubator Lead at the KAUST Entrepreneurship Center, and being raised between the US and Saudi Arabia, Rayan brings in a great perspective of how to adapt new international ventures to the Saudi market.

    As Learning and Design Program Manager at KAUST entrepreneurship Center, Nawaf brings depth of experiences and support impacting various initiatives through fostering key relationships and mentorship within the start up scene. With over 15 years of exceptional track record in in both public and private sectors, he has been involved in driving business excellence, spearheading initiatives, as well as top-tier relationship management across diverse sectors. Actively took several roles that involved capital raising for mega infrastructure projects, investment promotions and attraction.

  • Abdulrahman AlJiffry

    Program Development Officer at KAUST Entrepreneurship Center

    Abdulrahman is a founding member of the King Abdullah University for Science & Technology (KAUST) Entrepreneurship Center; Abdulrahman has played a key role in KAUST's Innovation and Economic Development activities for the past seven years. Currently Abdulrahman co-leads the TAQADAM University Entrepreneur Accelerator program, which is funded by Saudi British Bank (SABB) and has supported twenty-eight startup teams with a variety of technologies including Internet of Things, New Materials, Software, Internet and Biotechnology from 13 different Saudi universities. He has developed training and mentorship programs for a variety of major events and startup conferences in the Kingdom including MITF (Saudi Arabia) and Arabnet.  Work has included developing the program for the KAUST STEAM Innovation Challenge in collaboration with organizations such as Islamic Development Bank and Dow Chemical.

  • Nikolaos Tsorpatzidis

    Startup Coordinator at KAUST Entrepreneurship Center

    Nikos has been providing strategic guidance and operational support to technological startups originating from Kaust since December 2014 as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. He recently joined EC as Lead Mentor to the growing number of start-ups hosted/guided/nurtured by the Center.Nikos is a serial entrepreneur. He is the owner and CEO of two market leaders in Greece in the printing sector namely Easyprint and Ecostar. Nikos received a Bachelor of Science in Business management (BSc.) from the University of Maryland and he is a certified SAP consultant for FI/CO and HR.  

  • Arwa Shafi

    New Ventures Associate at KAUST

    Arwa has worked closely at the intersection of education and entrepreneurship across a wide range of programs throughout her career. Currently, Arwa is the New Ventures Associate at King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) where she co-leads the Taqadam Entrepreneur University Accelerator. Funded by the Saudi British Bank (SABB) Taqadam supports student, staff and faculty entrepreneurs across the Kingdom commercialize their technology through a new venture, in its first batch 25 teams benefited from the program. Arwa has also founded the Agents of Innovation program, an exclusive apprentice ship program for selected high potential students from partner universities. Arwa also mentors and coordinates with partner institution during STEAM, a major innovation challenge where up to 240 students in cross functional teams take on significant global challenges.

    Ahmed is an experienced Business Developer with involvement in the information technology, services, and banking industries. Currently, he is Managing the Accelerator Program and the Portfolio at Flat6Labs Jeddah, the first and only GAN accredited accelerator in Saudi Arabia.Ahmed has graduated on the top of his MBA Program cohort focusing in Entrepreneurship from California State University, San Bernardino. He is a member of Sigma Nu Tau, the Entrepreneurship Honor Society, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the “Best in Business” Honor Society.

In addition, he has provided professional consultancy to multiple technology & manufacturing focused startups and new businesses concentrating on market research, new businesses development, financial analysis, strategic business planning, and other objectives. Marwan was involved in various consulting projects, throughout his experience, where he has contributed to numerous merger and acquisition operations and has helped in formulating many governmental infrastructure projects with the Saudi Ministry of Labor.
