Event Overview

  • What is it?

    Mix N’ Mentor brings together promising entrepreneurs with top regional and global mentors. Thanks to its unique format and high profile delegates, 74% of past participants say they saw a direct improvement on their business.

  • Mentorship sessions

    At the core of the event are the mentorship sessions. Entrepreneurs will be matched with mentors based on profiles and needs. Various topics will be addressed throughout the sessions.

    There will be a number of workshops all throughout the event, ranging from User Acquisition to Public Speaking.

  • Fireside Chat

    At the end of the day, the whole group comes together to reflect on learnings in a fun, collaborative and very casual setting.

      Fares also serves as Portfolio Manager at MENA Venture Investments, the region's largest seed-stage fund and previously ran the region's flagship mentorship event, Mix N' Mentor. Prior to that, Fares served as Investment Manager at MVI and has more than a dozen seed stage transactions executed including portfolio management and other operational support for key MVI companies. Fares holds a BA- International Relations from the University of Southern California.

    Lina is a brand and marketing expert with over 15 years of global marketing and brand positioning experience. Prior to being the Chief Strategist - Partner at Overhaul, she served as the COO for Wamda Capital. Lina was also the Senior VP-Marketing & Corporate Communications at United Arab Bank PJSC and acted as CMO for Aramex where she was one of the first marketers in the ME to establish and utilise social media as a customer service channel. Lina holds an MBA from the London Business School.

  • Issa Aghabi

    Investment Officer at IFC

    Issa is a private equity and venture capital professional with significant experience in value creation and realisation. He has built unique experience, in the MENA region, originating, appraising ,structuring, negotiating and executing private equity investments and venture capital transactions across the board with focus on TMT. Issa has closed over 50+ investment deals (from $100K to $25M per transaction), managed over $150m in MENA Venture funds and served as a BOD member for a number of companies, providing commercial and business strategies, along with general operational, financial, and strategic support as needed. In 2015, he led the exit of twofour54's largest two investments, and more recently in 2017, led the exit of IFC’s largest MENA direct deal, souq.com. He also led the creation and launch a leading accelerator in the MENA region.

  • Nour Al Hassan

    CEO at Tarjama

    Nour founded Tarjama in 2008 in Amman. In 2011, she moved the company to Abu-Dhabi, guiding it as it grew into a regional company, employing 40 full-time staff and 200 freelance staff in four Arab countries. Nour is an advocate of women’s empowerment, and Tarjama’s high impact business model is a reflection of this passion.  The model involves training, hiring, and promoting women who might not otherwise have been able to enter the workforce. Of the 200 women Tarjama has trained over the past few years, 100 have been hired by the company on a part-time or freelance basis.  Nour is also the co-founder of the highly successful Jordanian-based luxury events company, Pinkmoon Events.

  • Samih Toukan

    Samih also founded Maktoob.com Inc. In the year 2000, Mr. Toukan founded and became the Chief Executive Officer of Maktoob.com the world’s first Arabic email and largest Arab Online community with over 16 million users. Following the acquisition of Maktoob.com by Yahoo! he became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jabbar Internet Group (Jabbar.com) a group comprising several leading Internet companies including souq.com, ikoo.com, cashu.com, sukar.com, cobone.com, joob.com and tahadi.com. He has several years of experience with Andersen Consulting in technology consulting, systems development and Internet services. He co-founded Business Optimization Consultants in 1994 and Maktoob in 2000.

  • Sara Chemmaa

    Before joining MBC, Sara worked for 3 years at Mckinsey & Company in Dubai, where she covered projects with clients from the GCC regarding economic development in the MENA region, SME financing and development, labour policies, women participation in the workforce, and education reforms. Sara also worked as an investment associate with N2V in Amman and as an Analyst with Societe Generale in Dubai. Born and raised in Casablanca - Morocco, Sara went to France to pursue her higher Education. She earned her master’s degree in Finance and Economics from ESC. While at business school, Sara went on an 8 months exchange program in Hiroshima Japan.

    Group Director, Strategy and Business Development at MBC Group

    Stephanie is the Group Director of Strategy and Business Development for MBC Group, before that she was Director of Business for the Middle East Broadcasting Company (MBC), specifically Al Arabiya and Middle East News. Before assuming her position at MBC in Dubai, UAE, Stephanie  was an Associate with McKinsey and Company (Dubai) where she worked with clients in the Middle East regarding education reform, healthcare reform, valuation and business plan development. During the Internet boom of the nineties, Stephanie worked as a Project Manager at Priceline.com and was responsible for International Implementation.

  • Tarek Amin

    CEO | Digital at Adline

    Tarek is a successful serial entrepreneur & angel investor who founded CareerMidEast.com before the turn of the Millenium. In 2016, Tarek founded and became a permanent member of the Investment Committee of Dubai Angel Investors (DAI). His experience includes establishing Connect Ads, serving as managing partner & executive producer at Alkarma Edutainment, founding Zanad.tv, and currently CEO – Digital at Adline Media Network. He also serves as an advisor, strategist and mentor to startups and entrepreneurs around the world.

  • Walid Mansour

    Managing Partner at MEVP

    Walid has more than 15 years of experience in Venture Capital, strategy, corporate finance and engineering within the digital, telecom, software and new media industries. Prior to joining MEVP in 2010, Walid was a lead associate at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and before that he worked as a strategy manager at the UAE’s Prime Ministry Executive Office focusing on public policy initiatives. During his stay in Dubai, he worked on setting-up entrepreneurship related programs and developing incubation in the Arab World through several Dubai based initiatives such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation.  Prior to that, Walid worked at Booz & Company as a consultant covering telecom & media and as an industrial engineer in France. Walid holds an industrial and urban planning engineering degree from Institut National des Science Appliquées de Lyon (INSA de Lyon) and an MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

    Hani currently leads GE Digital's regional marketing strategy and market development activities across Middle East, North Africa & Turkey and Sub-Saharan Africa to establish and drive large-scale digital transformation for customers. He previously led GE Healthcare’s Eastern Growth Markets region covering Turkey, Saudi, Middle East & Pakistan as the CMO with oversight of channel marketing, market intelligence, solutions marketing, digital marketing, strategic programs, campaigns and initiatives to ensure the execution of an integrated, multi-touch point marketing strategy for the region. Hani has almost 10 years at GE including recent roles as Market Development and Marketing GM for the Enterprise Solutions organization, several roles in GE Life Sciences and a graduate of the Experienced Commercial Leadership Program (ECLP).

He has thrived over 10 years in a consulting environment and has now specialized in the retail and luxury sectors, driving the corporate strategy agenda and now the mergers, acquisitions and corporate venturing ambitions of one of the largest luxury Group in the Middle East.

  • Omar Almajdouie

    Founding Partner at Raed Ventures

    Omar has been responsible for the Manufacturing Sector at Almajdouie Group since 2006. Maintaining healthy growth and expanding vertically and horizontally are his major responsibilities. Manufacturing Sector SBUs include: Almajdouie Steel Industries (The largest trailer manufacturer in Saudi Arabia) and Aryaf Foods (includes two outlet brands; Aryaf Bakeries and Cafe Liwan). Omar is specialized in market expansion, new concept development and product development.

  • Khalfan Belhoul

    CEO at Dubai Future Accelerators

      Khalfan Belhoul is CEO of the Dubai Future Accelerators at the Dubai Future Foundation. Prior to that, he was Vice President – Strategy at Dubai Holding, where he was responsible for formulating Dubai Holding’s strategic direction and enhance its investments and its role in the diversification of Dubai’s non-oil economy. Before joining Dubai Holding, Khalfan lead the Belhoul Investment Office, responsible for rolling-out a sophisticated asset allocation strategy spanning private equity, alternative investments, real estate and conventional assets. Khalfan also sits on the board of Emirates Development Bank.

  • Daniel Silvestre Dos Reis

    Daniel is a consultancy veteran, having served as Senior Consultant for companies like Capgemini Consulting and Detecon International GmbH before moving to the region as Director of Mobily Ventures, the corporate venture unit of Mobily (Etihad Etisalat). He is a business technologist with expertise and experience in Information & Community Technology. Adding years of Venture Capital to his heavy consultancy background, Daniel now serves as the Senior Portfolio Manager for the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, further developing the startup ecosystem in the region.

    Strategy and Development Director at DMS (Member of Choueiri Group).  Ziad started his career in digital marketing and has built over 10 years of experience in the Middle East working in the digital marketing, media and business industries assisting various sized organizations in achieving their business goals through the web. Prior to being appointed as the Strategy and Development Director by DMS, Ziad led the fast expansion and growth of strong regional players such as Madison Digital, AME Info, and eworks Publicis.

        As a former shareholder, Director and C-suite Executive of the Banawi Industrial Group, Waleed is well acquainted with typical corporate needs in the areas of attracting and maintaining talent. He has faced a variety of business challenges in the fast growing Middle East economy and chose to be proactive about delivering solutions to alleviate the gap between education and employment among the Arab youth. In addition to his corporate background, Waleed has actively led and participated in several not-for-profit and educational organizations and initiatives. He has been a strong voice amongst leading thinkers in business, academia and policymakers about education development to address the workforce skill-set gap including empowering and supporting progressive entrepreneurs.

  • Nardeen Abdalla

    Nardeen has spent the last 12 years in the online space and has established an impressive track record of successes in the marketing field while gaining a deep understanding of the dynamics of the Web and how to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Prior to joining PayFort, Nardeen was the head of Mazika.com a leading Cairo-based entertainment site that is part of A15, the leading Internet and mobile player in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Prior to that, Nardeen was the marketing manager at souq.com Egypt, the largest ecommerce platform in the MENA region. She oversaw all Souq’s marketing and communication activities including the development and execution of demand generation and customer acquisition programs. Nardeen acquired a BA in Mass communication from the Cairo University in 2005 where she majored in Public Relations and Advertising.

  • Patrick Thiriet

    Cheif Startegy Officer at Choueiri Group

    Based in Dubai, Patrick is the Chief Strategy Officer of Choueiri Group, a leading player in the MENA media landscape. He is in charge of developing the investment arm of the Group. Prior to joining Choueiri in 2014, Patrick had spent 20 years in banking. From 1994 until 2008, he worked for Societe Generale Private Banking, where he steered various acquisitions and organic development projects between Europe, Asia and North America, before opening the bank’s subsidiary in Dubai in 2007. In 2009, Patrick joined BNP Paribas Wealth Management, where he was promoted Head of Middle East and North Africa in 2011. He graduated from EDHEC (Ecole Des Hautes Etudes Commerciales Lille) in 1993, and holds an Executive MBA from INSEAD.

  • Roland Daher

    Before joining AstroLabs, Roland headed the Falcon and Associates’ Dubai 100 program, an intensive 100 day pre-accelerator, targeting global early stage digital health startups.  A big believer in the social impact of entrepreneurship, Roland has been a key player in fostering regional growth for the ecosystem. He was one of the founding members of Wamda and led its business development and strategic alliances. Roland had also acted as a member of the Steering Committee at in5. He holds a Computer Engineer degree from ESIB and an Executive MBA from London Business School.

  • Rania Masri

    Chief Transformation Officer at Chalhoub Group

    Born in Lebanon and raised between Saudi Arabia and Canada, Rania Masri began her career in Montréal after completing her luxury fashion Marketing studies. In 2002, Rania moved to Dubai to work with Azadea group, managing regional development for one of the Inditex Brands across the Middle East. She went on to join Chalhoub Group in 2006 to head the Ralph Lauren Middle East operation. During her time at Ralph Lauren she was instrumental in elevating the strategy of the brand within the region as well as leading its ambitious expansion across 10 countries. In 2012, Rania’s new mission with the group was to lead the company’s first ever owned fashion concept, Level Shoes, a now globally recognized retail concept dedicated to the world of footwear. The 96,000 square-foot store offers a curated space divided into 40 designer boutiques and five multibrand areas, with over 250 international and regional designer brands. In November 2017, Rania was tasked to lead a new initiative for the Group called Shift, a digital transformation initiative that will carry the Group into its next steps of growth. Rania is an extensive traveller, speaks four languages and is passionate about the future of fashion and the evolving retail landscape that she has devoted for the past 17 years.

  • Nitin Reen

    Director and Head of Value Creation at Wamda Capital

    Nitin Joined Wamda Capital in May 2017 to lead the Value Creation team through optimization focused interactions with portfolio companies and potential new investees.  Before joining Wamda Capital, Nitin spent 2 years with Rocket Internet in Dubai as a Managing Director at two ventures.  Nitin also co-founded a boutique investment firm specializing in early to mid-stage private equity investments. Prior to that, Nitin worked as an investment banker in Toronto with a focus on Technology, Telecom and Media. Nitin was born in Canada and studied, chemical engineering & applied physics and holds an MBA with a specialty in Corporate Finance. 

  • Faraz Khalid

    CEO at Noon

    Faraz is the former Co-founder and Managing Director of Namshi, the Middle East’s leading fashion online retailer Namshi. Faraz launched Namshi back in 2012 and has brought it to where it is today. Namshi today holds over 700 brands and can definitely call itself a market leader in the region. He has proven experience and hands-on knowledge in building, launching and scaling successful e-commerce enterprises in the region. Khalid has accumulated experience in building e-commerce platforms and in creating distinctive and long-term value for stakeholders. He played an instrumental role in the success of Namshi, which was launched in 2012, and built the region’s largest fashion catalogue with over 700 international brands. Faraz is a passionate advocate of high-impact entrepreneurship, and has supported multiple regional startups with advice and resources. He has an MBA from the Wharton School and has a degree in electronics engineering.

  • Victor Kiriakos

    Director at Precinct Partners

    Victor joined Precinct Partners in 2017 and focuses on new investments and advising portfolio companies. He has extensive experience in working with early stage companies, primarily in the technology sector. Prior to Precinct, Victor was the Managing Director of Flat6labs Abu Dhabi where he was working closely with early stage digital start-ups and helped establish two corporate accelerators while working at Intigral, an STC subsidiary.
