Ideavelopers and Vodafone invest EGP 6 million in Swipe'n'tap [Tweet]

On August 4th, Ideavelopers and Vodafone Egypt signed a new EGP 6 million (US $860,000) investment deal with Swipe'n'tapa Cairo-based technology startup. This is Ideavelopers’ 22nd investment in a technology startup since 2004, and its first co-investment with Vodafone Egypt. The two firms hope to forge a strong co-investment partnership going forward.

Taghreedat and Uktub partner for Arabic content proofreading [Tweet]

Taghreedat, an Arabic crowdsourcing initiative in the MENA region, announced a new strategic partnership with Uktub – the recently launched specialized Arabic language proofreading and editing service provider. The partnership aims at raising the standards of Arabic language proofreading especially Arabic digital content while highlighting a number of Arabic language guidelines that have long been ignored or unapplied in to the fullest.

LinkedIn launches a new section for university pages [Tweet]

LinkedIn, the business-oriented social network site announced the launch of University Pages, to support high school students while they choose their university and provide them with useful advices coming from teachers, parents and students. Starting from September 12, the access will be allowed to LinkedIn users with a minimum age of 13 years.

Etisalat launches e-billing on September first [Tweet]

UAE-based Etisalat said will gradually implement its e-bill initiative across all services starting September first. This transformation of current billing methods to new generation environmentally friendly e-bills, will ensure customers have digital access to their account information 24|7.
