Wamda Chairman Fadi Ghandour receives award at World Entrepreneurship Forum

Wamda Chairman Fadi Ghandour was honored yesterday at this year’s World Entrepreneurship Forum in Singapore with the Business Entrepreneur for the World Award for 2013. The WEF gathers 250 participants from 60 countries several times a year.

At this event in Singapore, Ghandour also gave the keynote address for the Forum that focused on Corporate Entrepreneurship Responsibility – an intiative designed to engage the private sector in supporting entrepreneurship and startups, to lead job creation throughout the Middle East and North Africa, a topic on which he's written for Wamda this year as well.

Along with Ghandour, Ashish Thakkar, who started the Mara Group at the age of 15, won the Young Entrepreneur for the World Award; Liberia’s president Ellen Johnson Sirelaf won for Policy Maker of the Year. Last year, Mo Ibrahim was the WEF’s Business Entrepreneur for the World 2012. Richard Branson also reportedly received an award for his work as a Serial Entrepreneur.
