Can solar startups survive in Saudi? [Video]

Saudi is one of the top two markets entrepreneurs want to scale into, but being a primarily oil-based economy it may or may not be right for those working in solar energy.

Ozan Sonmez, a regional startup mentor, says there are a number of industry elements that have to merge for a solar sector to really start moving.

Issues such as skilled technicians to maintain panels, community awareness and government assistance for young startups are all wheels that must be set in motion, but the fundamentals are there.

During this interview, Sonmez described the areas where startups were beginning to succeed, and the steps aspiring entrepreneurs needed to take in order to make it big in Saudi solar.
