Wamda announces Mix N' Mentor Beirut 2016

Wamda is organising Mix N’ Mentor Beirut on September 30th at the Beirut Digital District (BDD).

Beirut is rapidly growing to become one of the four most active entrepreneurial ecosystems in the Arab region.

Among Cairo, Dubai and Amman, Beirut is the smallest in size but just as vibrant and active.

Year after year, the city is hosting a slew of regional events making it a powerhouse attracting more global interest in its local startups.

One of the morning sessions focused on fundraising during Mix N' Mentor Beirut 2015

This year, Beirut hosted the MENA Games conference in April, an event offering a platform for regional and international gaming companies to accelerate their business growth.

Earlier last year, the World Bank hosted a weeklong knowledge exchange program between leaders of Chile’s successful startup community and Lebanese entrepreneurs.

Also, tech clusters outside the capital have quietly emerged, as northern and eastern suburbs are home to a number of high-growth tech companies, many of which have relocated from Beirut to escape the congestion of the city.

The Beirut edition of Mix N’ Mentor 2016 promises to be bigger and better, as we introduce social entrepreneurship as an additional topic session.

The event will create a suitable ambiance for corporate representatives and entrepreneurs to discuss different ways to collaborate.

Entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to pitch their business development solutions to the corporates during the one-on-one meetings, and successful pitches will be officially taken on by the corporation, with Wamda following up at a later stage.

Organized in partnership with BDD and Start [by PayFort], this year’s mentors will include Will Hutson, founder and CEO of LMTD; Walid Hanna, managing partner at MEVP; Lina Shehadeh, COO at Wamda Capital; Ghaith and Abdallah Yafi, founders and managing partners at B&Y Venture Partners; Abed Agha, managing partner at Vinelab; Hala Fadel, founder and managing partner at Leap Ventures; and many more from the region.

Over the course of the day, the event will hold morning roundtable discussions, where mentors and entrepreneurs will discuss fundraising, business development, team building and other topics attending entrepreneurs want to raise.

We’re waiting for you in Beirut. Apply here.
