How to market a digital publication: Advice from the founder of startupBahrain [Wamda TV]

During Wamda's Mix N’ Mentor event in Manama, we chatted with Ahmed Sawafiri, the founder of startupBahrain, the first interactive tablet magazine on iOS for entrepreneurs in Bahrain.

“There are two reasons why we think we get a lot of attention. The first is the fact it is an innovative product,” Sawafiri says. “The second reason why it took off so quickly is that, in Bahrain at least, we do not have another medium that covers or focuses on entrepreneurs and startup stories. This is a significant gap that we are currently hoping to bridge with the magazine.”

The startupBahrain team has spent much of their capital on marketing and spreading the word about their product, but Sawafiri is optimistic. “We have a very strong ecosystem in Bahrain,” he says. With several support institutions and funding opportunities, Bahraini entrepreneurs have more tools than many other ecosystems to help them succeed.

Check out the short video above for Sawafiri's take on the two biggest sectors in Bahrain and his advice for entrepreneurs looking to startup in Bahrain.
